Smart Building Apprentice

You’ll be part of an industry-leading company and receive a tailored 3-year training program as well as ‘on the job’ coaching from our team of specialists, creating smart, sustainable and energy efficient buildings.

During your 3-year course, you will gain experience in delivering engineering solutions learning about specifications, codes of practice, regulations, standards, and procedures. You will need to demonstrate attention to detail as you will be utilising digital technologies and techniques, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD), Building Information Modelling (BIM) and other techniques to inform and support engineering solutions.

Communication skills are key as you will be required to liaise with the project team and customers, as well as internal and external stakeholders. Being a team player is essential, but you will also need to work effectively independently, reporting back as and when required.

Sustainability is at the core of many of our projects and you will need to comply with environmental policies and legislations, practice sustainable principles and support the building services engineering projects to assist in the achievement of UNSDG (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) and net-zero carbon emissions.

A proactive approach with attention to detail is essential as you will be required to plan, manage, monitor, and contribute to the delivery and implementation of building services engineering projects to specification, budget and agreed targets, respecting the need to the security of data and information.

Will joined Intecho over 5 years ago as an ‘Electric Engineering Apprentice’ on this STEGTA course. Now part of our Senior team looking after huge commercial projects in both London and the Northwest, he has developed his skills and is now one of our go-to engineers for support and advice.

Speaking about his career at Intecho so far, Will said:

“I’ve been part of the Intecho team for over 5 years, starting my career here as an Electrical Engineering Apprentice. Throughout my Apprenticeship, I gained valuable hands-on experience working on site and liaising with electrical contractors on both residential and commercial projects, which enabled me to further expand both my engineering and project management skills. Now working as Building Controls Team Leader, I love the variety of projects I’m able to support and work on as it means I am continually enhancing my skills, all the while really enjoying what I do. It’s a great team to be part of and I’m looking forward to what the future brings.”
