Project: New build property in Cheshire

Brief:

The client was aware of Intecho following a glowing recommendation and was looking to integrate a intelligence home system into the initial design process of their extensive new build property.

They required a comprehensive system but also one that could be discreetly integrated into the new home to protect the aesthetics of the architecture and interior design.

It was established early in the brief that all lighting, under floor heating along with the domestic hot water must be efficiently controlled via one KNX system.

As the client had four young children, the audio visual system needed to be easy-to-use. It also needed to allow the simultaneous streaming of audio and visual media into different spaces and on different devices to reflect the varying age ranges and tastes.

The ability to tap into the home controls from a remote location such as an international office or holiday home was also seen to be advantageous.

Intecho Solution:

Intecho engineered a solution that enabled a whole house system to be controlled from simple touch screens and iPads. The Client was also able to choose from a selection of contemporary switches to find the most suitable for their requirements and interior styling.

By using iPads instead of expensive tablet controllers Intecho made the best use of the Client’s budget; iPads deliver the benefit of dual use as they can provide access to the Internet and to a wide range of applications and software.

The Intecho system enabled the control of internal and external lighting and the underfloor heating and hot water provision. A whole house distributed audio and visual system was specified that was capable of supplying HD TV, Sky and four different HD video streams in to four individual spaces. A 10tb media server was provided to store the family’s music and video files.

The system also integrated with the family’s security provision enabling video entry and CCTV camera display from any media screen within the home.

Once the final specification had been agreed, Intecho liaised on an on-going basis with the Client’s building contractors and project manager, issued full CAD drawings to the appointed electrician and undertook regular site inspections to supervise the installation.

Detailed elements of the design were fine tuned during the installation process including the function of individual room switches and, by working with the architect and interior designer, the lighting scenes and mood settings in individual spaces.

After installation, the Client and their family were given an informal introduction to their new home automation system and the function, features and benefits of the controls were explained. A simplified user guide was generated for the family and follow up visits were made to ensure they were satisfied with the system.

Intelligence by Evolution

Chameleon (Cha-me-le-on): Many types of chameleon are able to change the colour of their skin as an expression of their physiological condition, as a social indicator to other chameleons and as a camouflage device. Colour change is brought about by stimuli such as light, temperature, and emotion.

Intelligent Building Technologies: Ever developing technology allows us to automate the control of a building - to make it intelligent to the requirements of its inhabitants. Well constructed design and cutting-edge technology are combined by Intecho to create intuitive spaces that respond to changes in light, temperature and to your every need.
